What & How
Magnets, wine toppers, mugs, bowls of all shapes and sizes, plates, wine coolers, pitchers, colanders, cream and sugar sets, vases, planters, garden art, pinwheels...the list goes on.
I use stoneware clay and high-fire in an electric kiln to over 2300F degrees.
My ultimate goal is to build and fire a wood kiln. Click here for more info on wood-fired pottery.
What's New? Raku!
A style of firing that is fast and intense. Originating in Japan, raku firing is extremely popular for it's speed, texture and theatrics! After heating the kiln up to about 1300F degrees , the piece is taken--redhot--out of the kiln and placed in a metal bin filled with newspaper strips, hay, pine needles, or other suitable combustible. The smoke fills in the cracks and gives the clay a dark body. Remove the piece from the bin once it's cooled and enjoy!
